- This committee is a decision making committee.
The goal of the ISSN is to see that student educational needs are met. The most obvious of these needs are extra academic support. However, the support that students need is not limited to academics. This committee is an excellent place to discuss and put in place plans for social and behavioural education as well. - The composition of an ISSN is
1 administrator,
the union delegate,
1 non-teacher/non administrator (Guest)
3 to 5 other teacher members.
The majority of committee members must be teachers.
All teacher members are elected.
These elections should occur before the 15th of September. (Local 4-10.02)
The Chair of the Committee is a teacher.
The minutes should be recorded by a teacher representative. - The committee is a decision making body. The decisions are made by voting on resolutions.
Each teacher member has 1 vote. Administration has 1 vote regardless of how many attend the meeting.
No one has a veto.
A chair , from the teachers on the committee, is elected at the first meeting of the year. The chair, usually with the administrator, sets the agenda for meetings preferably 48 hours in advance.
All meetings need to be minuted, these minutes need to be sent to the SEC committee and the school board and RTU. (LOCAL 4 - 10.04)
